Membership Rules

1. INTRODUCTION

• 1.1 The Club provides residential and leisure facilities for gay and bisexual men to promote and encourage well-being among its Members.
• 1.2 Each Member agrees to be bound by these rules for membership of the Club.

2. DEFINITIONS

• 2.1 The following definitions apply to these:
• Club means Key West Torquay Private Members Club situated at Key West Resort, Meadfoot Sea Road, Torquay, TQ1 2LQ.
• Member means any individual who has been granted a membership card to access the Club.
• Membership Card means the card issued to Members and required to access the Club.
• Membership Fee means the one-off membership fee payable by all Members to the Club to cover administration costs, currently £4 but subject to change.
• Management means Brendan Kennedy and Peter Gordon or such other persons authorised to oversee the general running of the membership scheme, including but not limited to, acceptance of membership applications, cancelling of membership and updating the Rules of the Club from time to time.
• Rules means these rules as updated from time to time.
• 2.2 In the event of any conflict or inconsistency within this document, the Management will decide on its interpretation, such interpretation to be final and binding.

3. MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

• 3.1 Membership shall only be available to gay or bisexual men who are 18 years of age or older. Applications from individuals who do not meet this criteria shall not be granted.
• 3.2 Management shall grant membership in accordance with Rule 4 below.
• 3.3 Eligibility for Membership shall be decided by Management at their absolute discretion and their decision will be final and binding.

4. MEMBERSHIP APPROVAL & FEES

• 4.1 Membership approval is conditional upon receipt of the following:
  (a) payment of the Membership Fee;
  (b) a completed application form; and
  (c) acknowledgement of the Rules.
  
• 4.2 The Management is under no obligation to provide a reason for refusing to grant membership.
• 4.3 Hotel and health club booking fees shall include the Membership Fee for prospective members.
• 4.4 Management may, in their absolute discretion, offer promotions in connection with payment of the Membership Fee, which shall be honoured subject to availability.

5. CONDUCT OF MEMBERS

• 5.1 Each Member warrants and undertakes to:
  (a) use reasonable endeavours to comply with the Rules as updated from time to time;
  (b) remain considerate to other Members and refrain from any behaviour which may be considered antisocial, disruptive, loud, dangerous or violent;
  (c) refrain from acting in any manner which damages or is likely to damage or otherwise adversely affect the reputation of the Club;
  (d) refrain from taking any glass or bottles into the garden and pool areas and lower terraces;
  (e) refrain from smoking in any area of the Club; and
  (f) refrain from consuming any food or drink in the Bar, Gardens and public areas other than that purchased on the premises.
• 5.2 Each Member also warrants that they are gay or bisexual, male and 18 years of age or older.
• 5.3 Members must pay for the consumption of goods and the use of facilities separately.
• 5.4 Smoking in any area of the Club is prohibited and smoking within the hotel bedrooms will result in an automatic £50 Fine.
• 5.5 Lost room keys will be charged at £15 per set.
• 5.6 Lost locker key and wristband will be charged at £15.
• 5.7 Failure to comply with this Rule 5 may result in the immediate suspension or cancellation of an individual's membership; Management may at their absolute discretion choose to either suspend and/or cancel any membership of the Club.

6. MEMBERSHIP CARD

• 6.1 Each Member will be issued with a Membership Card.
• 6.2 A Membership Card shall provide access to all common areas of the Club during opening hours.
• 6.3 Membership is non-transferrable and may only be used by the Member to whom it has been issued.
• 6.4 A Member must return his Membership Card to the Club if he ceases to become a Member.

7. GUESTS

• 7.1 Any Member is permitted to bring 2 (two) guests into the Club at any one time.
• 7.2 All guests must be signed into the Club and must remain with the Member at all times.
• 7.3 Guests must also be gay or bisexual men who are over the age of 18.
• 7.4 Management may in their absolute discretion refuse entry of any Members' guests.
• 7.5 Admittance of more than 2 (two) guests to the Club at any one time will require prior Management approval.
• 7.6 The Member is responsible for their guests' behaviour at all times, including but not limited to anti-social or disruptive behaviour.
• 7.7 The Member shall be responsible for any unpaid bills of his guests.
• 7.8 If the Member leaves the Club, all guests invited by the Member must also leave at the same time, settling their bills prior to departure.

8. DATA PROTECTION

• 8.1 Each Member consents to the Club holding and processing data relating to him for legal, personnel, administrative and management purposes and in particular to the processing of any "sensitive personal data" (as defined in the Data Protection Act 1998) relating to the Individual including his sexual life; and racial or ethnic origin or religious or similar beliefs in order to monitor compliance with equal opportunities legislation.
• 8.2 The Club will hold all information on its Members in the strictest confidence and will not divulge nor share it without the Member's prior written agreement.

General
In the event of early departure guests will be liable for the full cost of stay.
We recommend the purchase of travel insurance
V.A.T. is included
We have a strict No Smoking policy throughout the building. Guests who fail to adhere will be asked to leave, will not be refunded and will be subject to a charge of £50 for cleaning.
Any damage to the property or fixtures and fittings will be charged for.
We do not accept guests under the age of eighteen.
At Key West we pride ourselves, and are complimented, on our freshly prepared Breakfasts.
There is plenty of free parking on and off road.
